Elemental Meditation I is an 8 week course intended for beginning & intermediate meditators. Through this course, you will learn the higher limbs of Yoga including breath work, or pranayama, visualization, concentration, sense withdrawal, and meditation.

This class builds techniques one step at a time. Each week you will learn a new component of how to advance and go deeper with your practice. Here is the course curriculum:

Week 1

Pranayama - Full Yogic Breath, Alternate Nostril Breath

Structure of Meditation with emphasis on Visualization

Meditation on the Breath

Week 2

Pranayama - Root Lock, Kapala Bhati

Mechanics of Light Expansion

Guided Meditation 

Week 3

Pranayama - Throat Lock, Agni Sara 

One-Pointed Concentration

Light Expansion and Guided Meditation

Week 4

Pranayama - Naval Lock, Ashvini Mudra

Mechanics of Sense Withdrawal

Sound Bowl Meditation

Pranayama - Refinement of Root Lock and Alternate Nostril Breath

Elemental Meditation I is based on the teachings of classical, Ashtanga (Eight-limbed) Yoga through the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Yoga is the practice in one-pointed concentration. The aim is to quiet the mind reducing repetitive and unnecessary thoughts. This can allow access to parts of the mind normally left dormant. 

Meditation has many practical benefits. It aids in relaxation, reduces anxiety, corrects ADHD, and thickens gray matter in the frontal cortex.  The spiritual benefits of meditation result in increased faith or finding purpose in life. 

The regular practice of meditation requires discipline and the allowance of time and space to be by yourself. Enrolling in a group meditation courses provides accountability to ourselves and each other. Having the support of your teacher will allow you to cut through confusion and receive techniques for the rest of your life.
